Board Members

Board of Directors

Christina Boyle – Board Chair

Christina served on the Board of Vita Centre from 2008 to 2015 and was Chair and President from 2009 to 2014. Christina stepped down after completing her maximum term of office. She was asked to rejoin the Board in September 2017 as the Chair of the Governance Committee and in 2018 again took on the role of Board Chair and President. She continues to have an active interest in all aspects of the work of Vita Centre, and brings with her many years of experience and understanding of the fiduciary responsibilities that must be met by a member of a Board of Directors, with a particular interest in Governance, Risk Management and Privacy based on her extensive work experience. She has served her profession and her community through a number of volunteer board and committee positions, including a term as President of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA), two terms as a Director of OPA, a term as a director of the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada, and is a current board member of Health Claims for Auto Insurance Processing, and serves on the Board of the Delta Bingo Association. She has just completed a six-year term as a member of the Governance Committee of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association. At the Annual General Meeting in 2019 Christina was elected for a second two-year term to the Board of Vita Centre.   

Brian Bell – Vice Chair

Brian is the President of Insightt, a management consulting firm that helps real estate related companies take their business to the next level through technology, data and training, Previously, Brian held the position as Senior Vice President of Innovation and Data Solutions for FNF Canada – a Fortune 500 company that operates five business lines within Canada. Brian was responsible for leading innovation across all FNF business lines, successfully launching a new business in data solutions that has helped to diversify FNF’s revenue. He was also responsible for establishing new strategic partnerships to drive new revenues along with leading mergers and acquisitions. Brian has also held executive leadership positions with Canada Guaranty as their first Canadian employee, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Brookfield Financial and Bank of Montreal MasterCard. Outside of the corporate world, you will most likely see Brian at a local rink with his two children who play competitive hockey. He has volunteered his time over the past 7 years as a coach with both the Port Credit and Mississauga Terriers Hockey Associations.

Annmarie Salvalaggio – Board Member

Annmarie Salvalaggio has recently ended a 30-year career with property & casualty insurer RSA.  Throughout her time there, she worked in leadership roles in variety of business areas, including business analytics, operations, performance management, and sales.  Her most recent role being Director of Trading Management & Analytics. She is now pursuing new personal and professional challenges including a deeper pledge to community and social issues. She brings energy, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to Vita Centre.  Annmarie holds a BA from York University and is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada.

Corinne Ah Choon – Board Member & Finance Chair

Corinne Ah Choon is an Investment Consultant and involved in investment research at Eckler Ltd. In her role, she assists public and private companies with the design of their pension plans, the structure and selection of investment options offered to plan participants and oversees the continued
improvement of the plans. In her previous role, Corinne was responsible for maintaining relationships with private and public pension plans, record keepers and consultants for an asset management firm. She spent the first 10 years of her career at a large financial institution where she held various positions, focusing on the creation and oversight of a global platform of investment products. She graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and is currently working towards the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Corinne believes in giving back to the community and has been very involved in community activities through fundraising and volunteerism. She is currently involved with her local church and Children’s Wish Foundation and has volunteered with Junior Achievements of Central Ontario, United Way of Central Ontario and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Corinne was a Founder and past Chair of Women@Manulife, a group aimed at promoting the advancement of women within Manulife from 2013 to 2015.

Fidelia Fredua-Kwarteng – Board Member

Fidelia Fredua-Kwarteng brings a strong policy, project management and stakeholder relationship/management background, working in Government both in Nunavut with the Department of Health and Social Services, and in Ontario with the Ministry of the Attorney General, Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Fidelia has two Master’s degrees from the University of Toronto: a
Master’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Social Work (Policy, Organizations and Community). Fidelia has about 14 years experience working with the Government of Ontario.

Marina Vadivelu – Board Member

Marina Vadivelu currently works at Scotiabank as a Senior Business Process Solutions Analyst. She has held various management roles in Investment and Wealth Management with a focus on leading projects within operations of the back/middle office. Marina’s passion to help others is demonstrated by her active role as youth co-ordinator at her local church, volunteering with Hope4Child Relief Mission Inc. (a CRA-registered Canadian charity focused on supporting war-affected families in Sri Lanka) and being part of the Diversity and Inclusion committee at work. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from University of Toronto.

Trixia Gener – Board Member

Trixia Gener is a Finance leader with over 20 years experience in the Philippines, Switzerland, US and Canada, in the financial services and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries.  Over the course of her career, Trixia has worked in the areas of Commercial Finance, Strategic Planning, Corporate Credit Risk Management, Financial Planning and Budgeting, Tax, Treasury and Accounting. She and her family moved to Toronto on work assignment in 2011, but quickly fell in love with the community and people (and weather, too!) and decided to call Canada home.  Trixia joined Vita Centre as a Finance Committee Member in 2019 and has since joined the Board in late 2020, and is pleased to share her time, experience and insights to help Vita Centre further its mission in helping our community. 

Sumedha Arya – Board Member

Sumedha Arya is an accomplished and experienced senior Human Resources (HR) professional with over eighteen (18) years of progressive HR experience within various industries such as School Board, Health Care, Public Sector, Non-Profit, and Social Services. She is currently a Director of Human Resources at Sherbourne Health, supporting staff and clients in the community services sector within the overarching healthcare sector. 

Sumedha is an active member of the Human Resources Professionals Association, Peel Region, possess a University Degree and hold the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRL) designation.

We are currently seeking Board and Committee volunteers from diverse backgrounds to participate and share their knowledge and experience and help Vita Centre realize its potential for good. To learn more about our Board of Directors or any open positions, please click here.

Time Commitment:

4 – 8 hrs. per month; generally meetings are in the evening

Other Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of previous Volunteer Board experience in the Non Profit Social Services sector
  • Committed to the work, mission and strategic goals of the organization
  • Regularly attend board meetings and important meetings/special events
  • Participate actively in committee work
  • Lead by example
  • Advocate on behalf of the organization
  • Represent the organization, as requested
